Aligning partners from the broader community
Individuals, congregations, and organizations from the broader community are stepping up to effectively link to the NAZ initiative to support Northside kids through a college pipeline that starts before birth. NAZ offers broader community partners a unique opportunity to get involved in large or small ways, and have its involvement connect with and augment work from many other sources.
Individuals from the broader community who are inspired to help support the mission of all kids college ready can:
- Stay Informed…Receive regular NAZ Flashes to be notified about events, activities, and issues related to NAZ and the Northside. Sign up at the bottom of this page! Also, follow us on Facebook using the link at the left.
- Spread the Word…Inspire and coordinate group or congregation members to sign up for NAZ Flash emails. NAZ can receive spreadsheets with email addresses to upload into the e-lert system. NAZ speakers can be scheduled to inform and motivate. Contact Jillian Kahn at jkahn@the-naz.org or (612) 521-4405 extension 211 to schedule a speaker.
- NAZ Program and Event Support…Support a program gathering where NAZ families come together and receive critical information about moving their child through the education pipeline leading to college. Support needed includes sponsoring the group meal or planning and providing engaging kids activities. There are two options for involvement: groups can sponsor a one-time Family Night event, or individuals can volunteer on an a multi-week basis with a session (or more!) of Family Academy. - Be a Mentor… Sign up with a NAZ partner organization to mentor a child in the NAZ pipeline.
- Advocate for Change…Organize or participate in lobbying efforts to impact the social underpinnings of the disparities, in partnership with Northside lobbying efforts. Talk to your own legislators regularly about the Northside and NAZ. To see NAZ’s policy agenda, click here.
- Help Build Resources…Support resource development efforts for NAZ by pledging funds or helping raise funds through your other affiliations. Learn more about the impact of your gift and donate online here.
- Organize a Drive… Help collect items such as books, school supplies and college gear for NAZ children. Contact Jillian Kahn at jkahn@the-naz.org or (612) 521-4405 extension 211 for our current needs or to request to be updated as needs evolve.
- Become a Friend of the Future… Friends of the Future is a community of support for The Northside Achievement Zone and its partner organizations. Individuals who join Friends of the Future help to end generational poverty.
This is what Friends do:
- provide financial support to The NAZ
- engage with experts, policymakers and NAZ families
- use influence to lift up the work of The NAZ and encourage others to become involved
