The Ballmer Group – the philanthropic organization of former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and his wife Connie – have committed to a five-year, $10 million grant to NAZ!

“The grant should inspire and challenge all Twin Cities business and civic leaders to lean in and work together in support of NAZ,” General Mills CEO Ken Powell said.

NAZ will use a portion of its campaign investment to launch a 3-year early-learning scholarship fund of $1 million a year for low-income NAZ families.

Friends of the Future

NAZ Friends of the Future is a community of support for more than 1,500 North Minneapolis children who are on a path to college graduation. Through NAZ, Friends have found a solution to end multigenerational poverty.  

What do Friends of the Future do for NAZ?

  • Financially support NAZ with a minimum $1,000 annual donation
  • Lift up the work of NAZ and encourage others to become involved
  • Join special member education events and celebrations

Membership in Friends of the Future is open to individuals, businesses, civic groups, families and foundations. Since its founding in 2011, Friends of the Future has provided more than $855,000 to build a foundation for long-term success and supported the greater community to “lean in” to North Minneapolis.
