Management Team — Implementation

NorthWay Community Trust (fiscal partners) & PEACE Foundation (operations partner) are identified as Managing Partners of NAZ. Together with key contractors and employees working on the NAZ initiative, and key leaders from the Steering Committee, they will meet regularly to provide management leadership for NAZ as the Management Team.

NorthWay’s specific role as a managing partner is to be responsible for fiscal aspects related to the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ). Specific duties will be as follows:

• Management of NAZ funds to ensure proper dispersal and use of funds to advance the goals of the partnership;
• Consistent and timely fiscal reporting;
• Development of short and long-term budgetary projections;
• Contract management when appropriate;
• Timely payment of vendors and other expenses incurred by the partnership;
• Provide seed funding to the NAZ Collaborative through December 31, 2010.

Funding strategies will be informed from input from the Steering Committee, the fundraising committee, and according to the established year one and year two budgets.

PEACE Foundation’s specific roles and responsibilities will be related to operational aspects of the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ). Specific duties will be as follows:
• Manage the daily operations of the NAZ partnership and lead efforts to implement the NAZ operating / business plan;
• Manage implementation of overall engagement and communications strategy as well as plans for community outreach and volunteer engagement;
• Lead implementation of comprehensive fundraising plan, including government contracts and corporate, foundation, and individual giving; and
• Supervise all contractors and partnership employees;
• Provide quarterly reports on NAZ outlining outcomes to date benchmarks met, benchmarks planned and anticipated outcomes;
• Development of a NAZ Business Plan.

The Management Team will:
• Meet with the managing partners regularly to provide critical consultation on the decision-making process;
• Work to assure Coordination Teams develop their goals, workplan and timeline in concert with the whole structure and education achievement focus;
• Oversee the Steering Committee agenda development;
• Reinforce the process for creating and tracking outcomes within the whole structure.

Steering Committee— Leadership and Coordination
Representatives of collaborative organizations will give input to the overall initiative, including programs, activities and strategies. While the Managing Partners implement the operations of NAZ, the Steering Committee will:

• Provide overall input to give a context for the Managing Partners to operate day to day;
• Include all Coordination Team leaders to create the vehicle by which all Teams work operationally with each other;
• Coordinate across all levels of NAZ to infuse the work of Coordination Teams into the whole process and apply the capacity of the sub-committees to the external work of the Coordination Teams;
• Provide feedback, advice, & recommendations about operations, strategy, & policy.

Subcommittees of the Steering Committee are formed when necessary to move collective work forward using smaller groups with representative expertise. Current Subcommittees include Standards and Accountability, Outreach and Communications, and Resource Development.
