NAZ Scholar Jokera Receives College Scholarship

Jokera W. was awarded a NAZ scholarship on July 31, 2014 to help her reach her goal of a four-year degree! Jokera is serious about her future. She recently graduated from Cooper High School where she attended North Hennepin Community College during her senior year.
“I’m proud of you and everything that you’ve done. You are so focused and a leader for your brothers and sisters,” said her NAZ Connector Joshua Watson.
Jokera has already been accepted to several universities and is in the process of deciding which to attend. While at college, she plans to pursue a degree in pre law, followed by law school. She also hopes to study abroad.
“We get to hold you up in our community and say ‘these are our hopes for all of our kids,’” said NAZ President and CEO Sondra Samuels.
As a scholarship recipient, Jokera will have the support of a NAZ scholar coach, called an Academic Navigator. “Your Navigator will be with you from the day you walk into school until the day you graduate. They will support you through challenges and celebrate your successes,“ said NAZ Education Director Jaimee Bohning.
