Attendance Blog: Scholars on the Importance of Showing Up

Regular attendance is important for all scholars, as it lays the foundation for their academic success and overall development. Consistent attendance helps children build strong learning habits, making it easier for them to stay on track academically. Regular school attendance supports social skills by allowing children to interact with peers and teachers, building strong relationships.

But how do scholars and their families stay on top of attendance?

NAZ had the opportunity to talk with a few scholars at NAZ Partner Catholic Charities – Northside Child Development Center where they attend after school programming. We wanted to hear what helps motivate them to get to school each day, so NAZ Senior Director of Early Education and Innovation Arielle Handevidt asked them a few questions to let us inside their heads.

So often, scholars know what works best for them! It's exciting to see young minds recognize the importance of showing up to school with consistency. Ask your scholar if they have ideas on how to make sure they have the best attendance record they can!
