Students from NAZ anchor partner Nellie Stone Johnson Elementary (NSJ) had a fun day of gymnastics at RGC Gymnastics ahead of the upcoming U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Minneapolis.
"We partnered with Northside Achievement Zone who allowed us to have access to the students at Nellie Stone Johnson,” said a representative from RGC Gymnastics. “What you’re seeing is some amazing, awesome young girls … fourth and fifth graders, some of them who’ve had gymnastics experience and others, this is their first time.”
It was such a wonderful experience for our Northside scholars to try out the beams, bars, and other gymnastics skills.
“There aren’t always opportunities [for] our scholars to be able to have experiences like this, so it is very fortunate for us to partner with people like NAZ who make sure our scholars are able to have access to these types of experiences,” said an NSJ teacher.
We greatly appreciate the Minnesota Women's Gymnastics, Minnesota Sports and Events team, Circus Juventas, and So Connected-Stacey Herman for making this an unforgettable experience for NSJ scholars!
"Opportunities like this are so empowering for our scholars," NAZ Vice President of Education Programs Ann Johnson said. "It gives kids the chance to see skills, interests, and talents to encourage them to continue to do their best."
